• NOTICE Pursuant to the Land...

Pursuant to the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act, the act of May 19, 1995, P.L. 4, No. 1995-2. ("Act 2"), notice is hereby given that Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School ("Cristo Rey") has submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection ("DEP") a Notice of Intent to Remediate ("NIR") a site located at 1711 West Allegheny Avenue, City of Philadelphia. This NIR states that the site was historically used for various industrial purposes. Soil and groundwater have been found to be impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents. Metals and PAHs were identified in urban fill materials at the site. Cristo Rey has indicated that the proposed remediation measures will include the removal of a former underground storage tank and associated impacted soils and the elimination of exposure pathways. The proposed future use of the property will be residential for a school.

Cristo Rey plans to use the Statewide Health and Site-Specific standards at the site. The Act provides for a 30-day public comment period for Site-Specific standard remediations. The 30-day comment period is initiated with the publication of this notice. Until June 14, 2017, the City of Philadelphia may submit a request to Cristo Rey to be involved in the development of the remediation and reuse plans for the site. The City of Philadelphia may also submit a request to Cristo Rey during this 30-day comment period to develop and implement a public involvement plan. Copies of these requests and of any comments should also be submitted to the DEP, Southeast Regional Office, 2 E. Main Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
